Salmon fish lay their eggs at higher latitudes in freshwater; after laying their eggs, they migrate to the ocean and to hatch their eggs, they return to freshwater habitats.
The eggs hatch into fry, the fry change into parr that stage last about six months and parr change into smolts.
Salmon lifespans are about 2 to 7 years, and they spend five years of their life in the ocean. After sexual maturity in the open ocean, they return to natal streams to spawn.
